Today with over 6,000 customers, we can proudly say that the B1 is one of the most popular add-ons of SAP Business One and is making more than 100,000 users happy.

What is the B1UP?

If you do not know it yet, the B1UP is an addon that allow users to perform SAP Business One customizations WITHOUT ANY development work. So, as simple as that, no coding.

Why it is so important? because when adding custom codes into any software implementation, you are basically adding an additional layer of complexity. Now, every time you need to perform a software upgrade, you need to make sure that custom code will continue to work.

So, with B1UP, you do not need to worry.

You can do truly advanced customizations, that prior you needed a very experienced developer to do, and all in a matter of second, minutes or hours. It saves both the partners and the customers a lot of money and time.

And that means, providing a higher return on investment (ROI) for the entire SAP Business One implementation.

I would say this is the main reason to use the B1UP.

So what does it mean exactly?

Here is just on of the many success stories we have for the B1UP:

"When we first saw B1 Usability Package, it was like a revelation. It meets all our needs of SAP Business One customization. It is like an open source; in a matter of minutes, even a person like me with limited skills can make customization – that saves us a lot of money"

How it all started

Let's go back, down memory lane to 2005 for a few moments.

At that time, Boyum IT was a small SAP Business One partner for about a year, we operated in Denmark and had a few customers. No one really knew us.

But on day, our lead developer, Rasmus, led an SAP Business One SDK Training on behalf of SAP where he got exposed to a lot of questions.

Most of those questions were focused on how to use the SDK to fill the gap between SAP Business One standard functionality and the common requirements partners get from their customers. So, things like, how to add a button and fields to a screen, how to create pop-ups when a user is doing something. And so on...

On his way home, an idea sparkled and came to his genius mind.

As those questions kept occupying his mind, he thought to himself "What if I could create a tool that will make that type of development work much easier?"

This vision became a reality when the first beta product was released in October 2005. At that time SAP Business One version that was released in the market was version 2004.

Ok, we have a product, now what?

When the first product came out, only our own customers and a few others were actually using it. Not very promising.

So how did we take a great idea and scaled it globally? Well, it took us a few years to become the global player we are today.

Believe it or not, in the first SAP conference we attended (FKOM 2007) in Las Vegas, we actually never showed the B1UP product to anyone. We were so overwhelmed with how big the ecosystem was and how much opportunities lies in front of our eyes.

We decided to take a leap of faith and worked heavily on signing up with the first partners in North America. We came back again to all the summits and our presence grew from conference to conference.

Slowly, more and more partners were introduced to the B1UP, and saw a great value in it as finally they had a single product that can:

  • Reduce the project cost
  • Decrease the implementation time
  • And almost eliminate "unbillable" development word

In 2008, we won the first Solution Partner of the Year award (first of many awards that came after) and from that moment on, the word about the product started to spread among all channel partners.

It took a lot of persistence and hard work. And today, almost all of the SAP Business One channel partners know B1UP, and even if they choose not to resell it, they all know what it does and how B1UP can really solve basic and advance needs of SAP Business One customers.

We grew presence grew from being a small Danish channel partner to a global solution provider with over 600 channel partners selling the B1UP.

This has been quite a journey. But this is not over.

How do we know which features to add to the product?

When we first got started, the features that were added to the product, were solving real problems our own customers had.

This was how our Toolbox screen looked back then

With time, and as more partners joined us and choose to resell the B1UP, we got exposed to various questions and like any company we started to prioritize them.

Today, we have a community that users and partners can go and ask their questions and raise their suggestions. Once enough people vote for a suggestion, and we are sure this can be technically developed, then we know we have a winning feature and add it.

If you have an idea, go ahead and suggest it, it really helps us to make B1UP even better every year.
